Today was the Christening of a very good friend's baby son, and she asked me to make a card for her & her partner to give their son. This is the design she chose. The colours do not show as true here, but they are beige & gold to match the outfit he wore today.

I designed the card using SCAL, and used my Cricut to cut it out. I liked the way the "i" looks a little like a candle in this font, which I think is especially symbolic for a Christening. I am not happy with the size of the "i"s & "n"s, & don't know what happened there, but it's still early days for me with learning how to use SCAL

My friend & her partner were really pleased with the card, & then my friend wrote a beautiful poem for the inside of the card.

We had a wonderful day with them, & their families.

Been very cheeky!

 The other day, I was getting a cuppa while waiting for my youngest (who was in her swimming lesson) when I noticed a big basket of small doilys on the counter, so I decided to be very cheeky and asked if I could have one or two? I think the chap serving me was new - he must have given me about a dozen! So now I have the doilys, I had to put at least one of them to good use didn't I

Tigger Hug

Phew, I've now returned from a few hectic days with my youngest two in EuroDisney. The 18yr old had never been before, & was just as enchanted with everything as the 11yr old, the look on their faces & the pure enjoyment they (& I) gained from the time away was worth every penny - even though I am now exhausted. Lots of photos to scrapbook, including a fabulous one of Tigger completely enveloping my youngest in the biggest hug ever :-)

My youngest had drawn a heart with Tiggers name next to it on her menu, at first Mickey saw it & was very comical, miming he was hurt that it wasn't his name there, then Tigger came along. He signed their autograph books & had a photo with both my daughters, then suddenly caught sight of the heart with his name & that was it - my daughter was completely engulfed in the biggest Tigger hug ever! I promise you, she is under there ................. somewhere.

"Peter Pan"? & simple masculine card

I finally seem to be getting some mojo back. I had to make two cards this week which were a real effort to make (I even considered buying my first cards in 6 years), but once I had made them it seemed to inspire me with ideas for more - bit ironic as I'm going away for a few days now, so no crafting for me for a week lol. 

I made this card as my youngest's card. She was in the panto Peter Pan recently,& although I thought this character was Robin Hood, she immediately thought he was Peter Pan! (Peter Pan's panto costume was quite similar)

Green isn't a colour I often choose to work with, but it suited this image. (Green never was my fav colour, but as a teenager I went to stay with relatives for a week, & on my return found my Mum had done my whole room, inc dressing gown, sheets, curtains, walls, lamp shade, tissue box cover out in green cos she liked it - not something I really appreciated!)

Retirement card #2

I made this for a fab colleague, who is also a great friend, I, along with many others miss her at work, but we will still continue to see her out of work. I wanted to try somethig a little different for me for this card, & this is what I came up with.

Tilda coloured with Promarkers. Papermania capsule collection papers, stamped sentiments cut ou with SU punches, ribbon from stash, gardenia flower from Wild Orchid Crafts, card candy from Craftwork Cards

Orange card from stash, all edges inked with brown Colourbox ink

Closer detail of the image - unfortunately the ink bled a little, so it looks like the water is lapping around her legs!

Whole thing made into an easel card.

Tempus Fugit

We have had lots of people (at the last count, I think it was 11!) hand in their notice at work in the last few weeks, lots of reasons why, but three of them are retiring. One chap is a particularly lovely gentleman, much loved by everyone & I have made this card for him 

The stamp is a freebie from Craft Stamper, stamped onto white cardstock, & distressed with SU Close to Cocoa ink. Paper is from a pack of sale paper, maker unknown (how unusual for it not to state maker on the pack!), ribbon from stash (I suspect it was salvaged from a box of chocs by a well known firm), card candy from Craftwork Cards & peel off sentiment from Papermania.

I am hoping to make cards for our other colleagues who are retiring, but my mojo has deserted me lately, which has meant I have struggled with even the idea of cardmaking lately, I hope it returns soon. Part of it may be because of this time of year. In the meantime I am very pleased to see the days starting to lengthen again.

Our colleagues are going to be much missed, & it is going to take a while for them to be replaced, let alone new staff trained to do their job, so we are anticipating that work will be much harder for a good while.
